Q. What is this all about?
A. For years now, politics in the USA has been getting more and more dangerous. As an outside observer, I’ve often thought that people should be able to hash out their differences in a constructive manner. I no longer feel that way. There are people that are so angry that the time has come for them to be held accountable. While I cringe at the thought of becoming a member of the “thought” police, I know that what people say online is how they will treat others at their workplaces. Anyone making bigoted remarks will not be capable of fulfilling their jobs, and their bosses need to be aware of the people working for them.
Q. Are you worried about repercussions? Suppose someone finds out how they were reprimanded or lost their job. Then what?
A. I’m in the UK. The USA has bungled the response to a pandemic so badly that they can’t even travel here. See you next year!
Q. I see that there are different levels of membership, each billed monthly or yearly. What is the difference?
A. All paying members will have access to the forums. Gold members will have access to some forums with more interactions, but everyone will be able to participate in the main thrust of the forum.
Q. What is the main thrust of the forum?
A. The forum is where users will be reporting bigots that they’ve come across online. Racists, homophobes, and the like. We will then do what we can to track their online presence and then send screenshots to their employers. Nothing more than that. There will be NO harassment or confrontations allowed. I will be the one that will be reaching out to their employers (again, since I’m in the UK, so there will be little chance of there being any violence directed at myself or the users of this forum.)
Q. Can I subscribe for just one month?
A. You can, but you will need to cancel your membership. All memberships use recurring billing, be it monthly or yearly. All major credit cards and PayPal are accepted.
Q. The forum is a little confusing. Will you walk me through it?
A. I will definitely be setting up a small tutorial with screenshots.
Q. Why are you using a website and forum, why not just set up a Facebook Group or use Twitter?
A. Facebook and Twitter are privately run companies and can EASILY delete any content that they choose. A website is much easier to control the content of, and in the case of DDOS attacks or removal by a webhost, it can be restored (daily backups will be performed) within a day or so if necessary.
Q. What about people that are self-employed? You can’t possibly get them reprimanded or fired for their postings online.
A. With a robust user group, we can leave reviews on Facebook and Yelp and the like. Those will be coordinated, so they aren’t all slammed on in one day, but will trickle in over the course of a week or two.
Q. Why bother doing this?
A. Because it’s the right thing to do. People need to be held accountable for their actions. On the bright side, if a bigot loses their job, perhaps there will be a non-bigoted job seeker that gets hired. That’s two good deeds right there!
